Originally, ARTeria was a booth in Tankwa Town, located at Off-Center Camp, who’s function was to support the creative crews in their endeavours. Today, Arteria is still that, but also a year round Team – Arteria is the hands-on volunteer team for the creative arts at AfrikaBurn.
If you would like to be involved in the AfrikaBurn Art World, without necessarily having to create art yourself, ARTeria might not be for you! Arteria is the team for whom nothing is impossible to enable the creative intentions of our community – if you can do this, you are creating art yourself.
To assist the AfrikaBurn creative crews with the different aspects of their project, the ARTeria Team is made up of a number of smaller teams that fulfil a specific function:
Educate, help and monitor the creative crews on their waste management.
Inform, inspire, help the artists to burn their artworks safely, sensibly and spectacularly.
Evaluate, guide, advise and monitor the safety of all artworks on site.
Admin, cajoling, informing, setting up systems, direct art volunteers, etc.
Make sure that the creative teams have their tickets and early arrivals, so they can do their thing in the desert.
Artwork emergency squad on site. This is a group of experienced AfrikaBurn artists, well-equipped with tools and other resources, who will jump in to help a crew finish their artwork, secure a sculpture during a storm, advise and assist inexperienced and unlucky crews, etc.
Team of volunteers plotting all year round on ARTeria Booth and all Tankwa Art Things.
If you would like to be part of the ARTeria Team, please send us an email to [email protected] and tell us a little bit about yourself, how do you think you can help and how would you like to get involved. And please specify your whereabouts and your time availability.
Please keep in mind that most of these roles require involvement all year round and that if you signup for it, we are counting on you. Please do NOT over-commit.
Thank You!
