Please note: this post is from 2012, so the ticket info here is outdated. To get the latest ticket info, go to this page.
Ever since the idea of limited numbers was introduced for this year’s event, the possibility of tickets selling out was there, waiting to happen. And it has happened, folks. The number of participants this year will be the highest yet. The same applies to volunteers (pssst, by the way, there are no free tickets for volunteers). It seems quite a few people were caught napping, and are disappointed. Unfortunately, tickets for this year’s event have been sold out, and AfrikaBurn will not be making any more available. There are concrete reasons behind limiting the number of tickets and it’s not going to change. These reasons are numerous and include organizational capacity, venue capacity and legal and certification issues.
To those who are absolutely desperate, we say: don’t lose hope! If you want to source tickets that are being resold by people not able to attend, try looking on the AfrikaBurn Forum:
http://forum.afrikaburn.org/threads/504-Ticket-Sales-amp-Repurchase
on the AfrikaBurn Facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/afrikaburn
and a further option would be to search on Gumtree Cape Town.
In the spirit of decommodification – and in the spirit of just being plain nice to each other – AfrikaBurn encourages all ticket sellers to resell them at face value. Don’t be a scalper – and don’t put up with scalping – because it’s not cool, and it’s not our culture.
And remember: If you haven’t got a ticket please don’t make the journey toTankwaTown. THERE ARE NO TICKETS FOR SALE AT THE GATE.
