What’s the point of the theme?
The theme is a point of engagement or inspiration: it’s a conversation starting point, a proposition for discussion and a platform to dream from.
It’s designed to inspire your contribution to the event.
Like to propose a theme for AfrikaBurn 2017? Great – but don’t just chuck some words in without consideration: think about it!
Ideally the theme is engaging, thought-provoking, stimulating and versatile. It can be a phrase, or a single word.
If you have some theme suggestions, now’s the time to craft that and send it in.
Please submit a written motivation for your theme suggestion on the form below. Please note: we’re looking for well-thought-out concepts, so there’s a minimum of 50 words, 500 words max. Just remember: theme proposals without a written motivation can’t be considered.
All theme proposals will be presented anonymously, so please don’t mention your name in your proposal.
Your email address will be separated from your submission before themes are considered by the creative committee.
Please send your theme proposal before Tuesday, 31 May 2016.
Heads up: submissions are now closed.
If you sent a theme proposal in previous years and you think it’s still a good one, please send it again.
All theme proposals (with motivation) sent during May will be considered and discussed by the ArtCom and the announcement will be made as soon as possible.
